We highly recommend Green Pigeon tours for visiting Madagascar! The company was high quality, reasonably priced, and very communicative. We did a cross country trip from Antananarivo to the west coast (Tsingy, Baobab, Morondava)…

Highly recommend Green Pigeon tours for visiting Madagascar! The company was high quality, reasonably priced, and very communicative. We did a cross country trip from Antananarivo to the west coast (Tsingy, Baobab, Morondava) and it was the trip of a lifetime. We drove through countless beautiful villages and changing landscapes. The vehicle was perfect for the difficult roads and we even took two barks (boats) down the river which was an exciting experience! The scenery was absolutely stunning. I highly recommend Andry for your specific guide. He was so much fun to be around, very kind, knowledgeable, and has the best laugh around :). He helped us with our specific requests, not just with logistics, but for example, also stopping at several small villages so we could play with the kids, which was a highlight of our trip. We were lucky enough to have his trainee along with us too, Volatina, which made the trip even more enjoyable- she will be an excellent guide in the future! It truly was the trip of a lifetime and I can not say enough great things about Andry, Volatiana and Green Pigeon tours!
We could never have traveled through Madagascar without Green Pigeon Tours. The driver who drove us most often, Momi, was very skilled at negotiating what the Malagasy called roads, but what seemed like a series of potholes linked by some concrete. Our access to the parks and reserves allowed us to see a variety of animals, most particularly the lemurs. We saw approximately 10 of the 107 to 113 species. In addition, the explanation by some of the guides, most prominently Paul Malagasy, allowed us to get a better understanding of life for the Malagasy, and motivated us to continue reading when we got home. We appreciated the visits to the textile weaving, wood-carving and paper-making workshops.
In Tana, the visit to Foundation H was a highlight. We had specifically requested a visit to this gallery, which besides, exhibits, provides workshops, space for artists, a library and café for the community, and we happened upon it during a festival of African artists who were women. ……………..
The hotels in Madagascar, including the Masoala Forest Lodge, were all very good, particularly our lodging in Tana (La Varangue), Isola National Park (Relais de La Reine), and the Mitsinjo Reserve (Mantadia Lodge). I loved the free laundry services at the forest lodge and the laundry services at the remaining hotels
